CHRISTMAS and END-Of-YEAR FUNCTION
Saturday 1st December, 2007

Well another year has come and gone and boy don’t they fly (like our Torries)!

The NSWTC celebrated its second Christmas gathering at Giovanni’s Italian Restaurant in Parramatta on Saturday, 1 December 2007.  I would like to thank all the members who attended and brought along friends and family members to join us.  It was a good turn out and it looked and sounded as though everyone had a great time.

Club member Larry Sullivan, who intended on joining us, sent his apologies allegedly because of work commitments, but we suspect it had something to do about a new boat (nothing escapes our spies)?  Bob Byrnes also sent an apology due to work commitments, and we know this was fair dinkum as he was last seen driving north on the F3 towards Newcastle (which he knows well) muttering a few words that cannot be written here.  A number of other members also had family and personal commitments, which is quite understandable for this time of year.

The early birds helped decorate our room in a Christmas theme.  Music was provided by our lovely Secretary and got us in the Christmas spirit.  Once everyone had arrived, the four-course spring banquet meal commenced.  The Italians certainly know how to cook and the food was in plentiful supply.  It was given ‘two thumbs up’ by our resident Italian stallion, Reno, and he reckons it was as good as his mamma’s cooking.

Before dessert, the formal side of the day was held, starting with the drawing of the lucky door prizes; winners were Leanne Davidson, Paul Gilmore and Leanne Farnsworth and the non-member prize went to Cody Aldridge.  I then gave a quick reminisce regarding vinyl, stick on sun visors in the 70s mentioning panel vans and the like before introducing a brand new, in the packet “TORANA” in flouro colours vinyl stick on windscreen sun visor.  Boy oh boy you don’t see too many of these nowadays.  After some boisterous bidding Reno eventually won out; congratulations Reno (and don’t put it on the Toyota mate!).

This was followed by a quick chat on the success of the Club to date and I thanked the Committee for a job well done, and also wished the members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Michael Velo made mention of the Club’s second AGM, which will be held in Dubbo in March 2008 (one not to be missed).

On behalf of the Committee and the members of the NSWTC, I would like to wish all the readers of this website a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and remember to motor safely during the silly season!

The NSWTC is looking forward to another fantastic year in 2008 of Torrie driving.
