Wollombi Pub
27th May 2007
The day's run started with a cold morning. I was the first to arrive at Mt Colah McDonald's, the meeting place for the run. By 8:00am, the car park was filling with Toranas, and by 8:45am, it was time to talk about the run.
Before departure, I advised everyone about the route we were taking and handed-out the run sheets. I also welcomed our newest member, Michael Muller, as well as two visitors, Mathew and his mate Bill.
Just a little bit about Michael - his car is an LC GTR-XU1, and from memory, he purchased it brand new. Matt had his white LX, which he bought two years ago.
By 9:00am, it was time to leave and we all filed-out of the car park and onto the old highway through Mt Colah, Berowra and onto the F3. So far so good, no incidents, just a little traffic and before long we were over the Mooney Mooney Bridge and taking the Gosford exit soon after.
Along Wiseman's Ferry Rd all members were in sight. This all changed pretty soon, with a call from Greg to let us know that Ian's red Torrie was suffering from an undiagnosed noise from the car. I decided to stop the group and await the verdict on Ian's car while Greg, with his passengers Lexa and Leanne Davidson, stopped with Ian to render assistance. A few phone calls later Ian decided he would head for home, and advised us to continue on the run without him. Upon Greg arriving to where we were pulled over, we then all continued on to our destination.
We turned-off Wiseman's Ferry Road and onto George Downs Drive. The road wasn't too bad, just a few rough sections. Before long we were driving into Wollombi, and the pub owner let us park off the road and in his paddock which became quite a spectacle. On our arrival, and so we wouldn't have to wait too long, the Committee organised for the lunch orders to be taken.
No sooner had we arrived at Wollombi when the Hunter Valley Torana Club turned up to join us. This was a good chance to see this club again to talk about cars, car shows, Toranafest etc.
Soon after lunch it was time to make our way home. The run was pretty uneventful except for the Farnsworth family, who came upon a motorbike accident on the Peats Ridge Road.
I would like to say that it wasn't who was on the run, but more like who wasn't. Many thanks to everyone who attended.
