Mt Tomah ~ 25 March, 2007

The day’s run started under cloudy skies at Parramatta McDonalds. Upon arriving I was surprised to see the Lions Pride Club parked in the car park; they were going on a joint run with the Sydney Torana Club. It was good to see some of our old friends from the STC again. Pretty soon the car parked was filled with our Club’s Torries. Once we had eaten breakfast it was time to discuss the day’s run, which didn’t take long and run sheets were handed out (thanks Lexa).

At 9.15 a.m. on the dot we were on our way for a great day’s run. There was lots of traffic and plenty of lookers as we headed up the Windsor Road. On our way we picked up Mark and Michelle at Rouse Hill. When we passed through Windsor we drove by the church that Mick and Lisa were married in last week and the display board at the front of the church still had a message congratulating Mick and Lisa on their wedding. By the time we arrived at Richmond Rick and Sharyn were waiting to join the group and from here it was onto the Bells Line of Road. This is a great road to travel on and was thoroughly enjoyed by our entire group. Rain was not a problem as we were starting to become used to it by now! Once we reached the Gardens the rangers had a special spot to park our cars. Upon parking the vehicles Greg needed a hand or three to extricate himself from the little Torrie he was a passenger in – thank you Michael Velo (the Prez’s Torrie was still off the road after the previous weekend’s wedding car mishap!)! Our thanks go to the rangers for their help in ensuring our cars were parked safely from the madding crowd.

With the cars tucked away it was onto the Garden Information Centre for the group to start a garden tour, most of who took advantage of this and had a good look around the gardens. Due to the inclement weather Lexa spoke to the manager at the restaurant and we were all able to eat lunch inside and not on the verandah as previously planned.

After lunch, a small discussion was held in the car park about the day’s run amongst the group. The President had a bit of a surprise and unrolled something in front of everyone which took their breath away; a brand new Club Banner was produced sporting the picture from our website. The banner looks fantastic and thanks go to Scott Davidson for the contact with Tubby Signs and to Lance for his graphic artist skills in providing the image. It was now time to head for home.

The trip home was fairly uneventful with not much traffic and everybody who joined us on this run had a good day. In finishing off I’d like to thank those who attended today:-
