Gerringong
28th October, 2007
The day started-off at Moorebank McDonalds with blue skies and warm summer-like weather. Everyone was looking forward to this run with the opportunity to get their Toranas out and give them a drive (seemed a long time since our last run). After a bite to eat and some much-needed coffee, everyone was ready for action. Even Bob Byrnes popped in to say hello and catch up with fellow members. Unfortunately he had to work a missed ut on a great run (should have taken a sickie Bob).
After a short briefing from our run leader Scott Davidson, we were on the road and heading south. The kilometres quickly passed by and before you knew it, we were in the beautiful township of Berry. After a quick ‘pit stop’ it was time to travel to the Treat Factory but we had a slight delay. My purple GTR decided it didn’t want to start (probably some heat soak from the extractors) but the problem was quickly solved. Managed to get a push start from some of our larger members and the engine roared back to life, thanks guys.
Well the Treat Factory is appropriately named. Plenty of lollies, chocolates, sweets and treats to satisfy anyone’s appetite. The cash register worked overtime and many purchases were made allegedly for their children.
We then had a short drive to Mick Cronin’s Hotel in Gerringong and enjoyed the southern hospitality. Mick Cronin was onsite and proudly looking after his business, which I would recommend. Our members enjoyed plenty of good food and cold refreshments.
We then enjoyed a leisurely drive back to Sydney without any incidents. I would like to personally thank Scott and Leanne Davidson for selecting the destination and preparing the run sheet – top choice!
I’d also like to thank those who attended;
- Ian Williams and grandson Luke.
- James Davidson and Sally.
- Michael Muller.
- Les Wilson.
- Rob and Leanne Farnsworth (and family).
