Catherine Hill Bay The first run for 2008 turned out to be a beauty. The sun was shining and all was good. The club members were raring to go and so were their torana’s. We met at Mt Colah McDonalds at 10am for a quick bit to eat, (so much for the New Years resolution to cut down on fast food.) After some coffee, bacon & egg McMuffins, hash browns and pan cakes it was time to head north to the little township of Catherine Hill Bay. Before leaving Mt Colah, our Club President handed out the 2008 New South Wales Torana Club Calendars that were created and developed by Mike Holland. A lot of hard work went into these calendars and it is much appreciated Mike. For those members who were not able to make this run don’t worry, it will be posted to you soon. On a side note, it was observed that there was a yellow SLR 5000 parked in the handicapped parking zone. Several members asked me to investigate this matter and I can reveal that all is in order. The car was legally parked and had the proper accreditation. (Some people have all the luck, fast cars and they get the best parking spaces as well, lucky buggers!) We then travelled up the old Pacific Highway and onto the F3. After a leisurely drive we arrived at the beautiful township of Catherine Hill Bay. It was easy to spot our destination as a replica A9X Brock Torana hatchback was parked outside the Catho Hotel. It was not one of our cars but belonged to a member of the Hunter Valley Torana Club who joined us for a club run, the more the merrier I say. The car park of the hotel and the street outside were littered with torana’s. It was like living in the 70’s. Well the amber fluid was soon flowing (so much for New Years resolution No. 2) and NSWTC and HVTC members were soon talking about cars and members of the opposite sex, some things never change. The two presidents of both clubs (Greg and Mick) had a lengthy conversation and no doubt are planning bigger and better things for 2008. After a great lunch and a few more cold drinks, it was time to say goodbye and head home. It was going to be a warm trip home so we made an early start and drove south to beat the southbound traffic on the F3. The temperature by now was in the low 30’s and the torana’s were running a little hot, like their passengers but we couldn’t believe what we heard on our CB radios. The same yellow SLR 5000 that I mentioned earlier, brought it to our attention that they were enjoying their icy cold air conditioning in their torana. Did I say lucky buggers before, I should have said luck bast**ds! I’d like to thank all members who attended from the NSWTC and HVTC.
