Run Report

This was our last run of the year and it turned out to be a good one. The heavy commitment of car shows was out of the way and the Federal election was over (thank god no more political advertisements for a while). It was time to get our cars out of the garage and back onto the road.

We met at Mt Colah McDonalds at 10:00am for some R and R. After some coffee and usual chit-chat it was time to head north to the little township of Kurri Kurri. We travelled up the old Pacific Highway and onto the F3. Before you knew it, we were at the Kurri Kurri turn-off and travelling through some beautiful countryside.

We parked outside the Empire Tavern and were greeted by two members of the Hunter Valley Torana Club, (Graham UC hatchback and Scott LJ XU-1). The Toranas looked great outside the hotel and were envied by many of the locals. After the usual discussions and lifting of bonnets, some green liquid was noticed leaking from a chamois SL/R. The owner, who I shall call “Bob” rushed over to inspect his car. After carefully checking the cooling system he informed members that there was nothing to worry about he just needed to ‘tighten his nuts’. Several members immediately fell to the ground in fits of laughter and the ladies were looking at each other quite bemused. Once Bob has rectified this minor problem, it was time for lunch.

Our members enjoyed a hearty country-style lunch at the Empire Tavern, which must have been pretty good as there wasn’t too much talking for awhile. It was also necessary to hydrate ourselves with plenty of cold liquid refreshments as the thermometer reached 30 degrees Celsius.

It was going to be a warm trip home so we made an early start and drove south to beat the southbound traffic on the F3. We stopped at the Warnervale Twin Service Station to say our goodbyes and check on Bob’s SL/R; all good.

I’d also like to thank those who attended:
